Canalgrande Hotel in Modena is situated in the town center, just a short distance from the Cathedral with its famous Ghirlandina bell-tower, from the Military Academy and from the smartest shops in town. The hotel building dates from the sixteenth century and was originally the convent of the Holy Trinity. It passed into private ownership in 1788 and undergone alterations, then in 1858 it was sold to the family of the Marquis Schedoni. All of 78 guest rooms are equipped with every modern comfort to ensure a relaxing stay in elegant surroundings. Each room features satellite TV, telephone, mini-bar, and air conditioning. In summer you can have breakfast or an aperitif on the terrace in the garden. The basement of the Canalgrande hotel dates from the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, and was once the Duke's dockyard and landing stage. It is now home to a most attractive restaurant, "La Secchia Raptia" where you can enjoy the best local cuisine in the splendid dining room or below ceiling of ancient terracotta cross vaulting. Guest can enjoy the amenities of a meeting room, garden, and bar cafe. Dogs and cats are allowed. A car park and private garage is available at the hotel. The hotel accepts major credit cards.
