The Hotel is situated in a large mature garden with breathtaking views of the island, the bay of Naples, the Sorrento peninsular and the Amalfi coast. Close to the center of Anacapri and to the chairlift that will transport you to the highest point of the island on Monte Solaro. The hotel was constructed in neo-classical style in 1870's, and opened in 1904 under the name of "Hotel Molaro". In a short while famous artists, writers and noble families frequented it. The 60 rooms, some with air conditioning, have terraces or balconies either with a sea or a mountain view which is dominated by the famous "Barbarossa" Castle dating back a 1000 years. Each room comes with satellite color TV and telephone. At 300 meters above sea level one can enjoy the sun terraces with exclusive views, where you are suspended between the sky and the sea. The Hotel San Michele has the largest and sunniest swimming pool of the entire island. Trees, plants and lawns for sun beds and chairs surround it. On request swimming lessons and aquatic body exercises are available. Close to the swimming pool there are tennis courts available at the "Capri Sporting Club" at special prices for hotel the guests.
